Saturday Oct 6th:
1) “Flame of Truth” torch relay. The torch from Vancouver BC will arrive at Sakya Monastery on Saturday October 6th

At Sakya from 3pm-5pm we will have a ceremony for the “Flame of Truth” torch rally to honor our brothers and sisters who have self-immolated in Tibet, we will then walk around the Greenwood neighborhood. PLEASE, all Tibetan men and women, boys and girls please wear your Tibetan chupa

2) From 5pm-12am at Egan Hall (to be confirmed) we will be celebrating Tibetan Youth Congress Founding Day. We will be holding a party hosted by TYC to recognize the last two years of work done by the current Seattle TYC committee.

Sunday Oct 7th:
We will be holding a “Flame of Truth” torch rally in Westlake Park at 5pm-7pm, please come and support this great cause for Tibet

Lhakor Day: Weds Oct 10th Greenlake
Meet at the stadium steps (near the boathouse), at the south end of Greenlake same as last year. We will be walking around Greenlake with the torch.

Many small countries are represented in the UN however Tibet is NOT represented or/on the UN Agenda

THIS MUST CHANGE in order for Tibet issues to have more global recognition and keep up the pressure on the current Chinese Government to change their position on Tibet

Many NARTYC groups (DC, NYC, MN, WI) are flying into NYC that day, however this is too far for us to go

Seattle (WA), Portland (OR) and San Francisco (CA) will be holding their own rallies in their own cities/states

Torch Relay across North America to Highlight Crisis in Tibet
Flame of Truth Relay, September 2 to December 10, 2012

The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, based in Dharamsala, India, launched a worldwide Flame of Truth
Relay on July 6, 2012, the birthday of His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama, to carry the message of
the people in Tibet to the world – including the tragedy of 49 Tibetan self-immolations since February
2009 – and to urge an appropriate response from the United Nations to the current crisis situation.

The North America leg of the relay begins in two segments from Washington D.C. and Ottawa on
September 2, 2012, the 52nd anniversary of Tibetan Democracy Day, which commemorates the first
election of a representative body in Tibet’s history — the Commission of Tibetan People’s Deputies –
instituted in exile on September 2, 1960. The torch will pass through major North American cities.

Participants in the torch relay will speak on behalf of Tibetans in Tibet who are denied by the Chinese
government the fundamental rights to which every person is inherently entitled, including freedom of
speech, belief, and assembly.

In addition, participants will call on the United Nations to:

1. The United Nations must discuss the issue of Tibet based on the resolutions that it has passed in
1959, 1961 and 1965, and continuously make efforts to fulfil the substance of these resolutions;

2. An independent international team should visit Tibet to investigate the situation leading to the
ongoing crisis in Tibet;

3. The United Nations must take special responsibility to ensure that the basic aspirations of the
Tibetans inside Tibet are fulfilled.

The relay initiative also incorporates the collection of signatures on a public petition to be submitted to
U.N. headquarters in New York, the U.N. Human Rights Council in Geneva, and the U.N. Information
Office in New Delhi on December 10, 2012, the concluding day of the world-wide relay.

The Flame of Truth Relay is an initiative of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile and the Office of Tibet in
New York. In addition to the Tibetan Associations of North America, the initiative is supported by the
North American Chapters of the Tibetan Youth Congress, Tibetan Women’s Association, International
Tibetan Independence Movement, Students for Free Tibet, and the International Campaign for Tibet.

1)To honor all the Tibetans who paid ultimate price for Tibet. We honor all those who passed away through their selfless act of self-immolations. Guts and bravery for Tibet are just unimaginable.
2)To unite Northwest Tibetans through sports. We hope that the bond we create through sports will encourage discussion on Tibet issues and that you will do great things for Tibet one day.
